Ko Chang is the largest of the 52-island Marine National Park. It is untouched by modernization and its natural resources kept intact. Its hinterland consists of over 70% virgin rainforest and is protected by law under the jurisdiction of the Forestry Department of Thailand. There are few study centres worldwide that provide a purpose-built facility within and linked to a National Park environment. The IDEALS Centre not only provides immediate access to some unique mountain primary rainforest and waterfalls but also embraces opportunities to explore the wonderfully rich offshore coral fringed islands and surrounding tropical seas. The creation of this world-class facility on Ko Chang is to develop leadership skills and teamwork, self-confidence and care for others - through adventure, community service, marine and forest ecology and outdoor pursuits.
